Venmo Vs Paypal: Fees
Fees for the two services are fairly similar. Both offer free payments from linked bank accounts, and both charge about 3% for payments from a credit card. Where they differ slightly is that Venmo extends its no-fee option to payments made from debit cards, while PayPal only allows free payments directly from a bank account. For debit and credit card payments, PayPals fee is technically 2.9% plus 30 cents.
One exception to the fee on payments made with a credit card is on payments made via American Express. Through a very new development, American Express is offering free payments through both PayPal and Venmo, though the payment has to be initiated through the American Express app instead of using the PayPal or Venmo apps. But doing so enables users to pay with a credit card and avoid the roughly 3% fee on that transaction.
How quickly you want to transfer accumulated money from your PayPal or Venmo balance to your bank account also has free options on both platforms. Both Venmo and PayPal allow you to choose a standard transfer speed of one to three days for free, or to upgrade your transfer to take place within seconds for a fee of 1.5% of the money transferred. Both services cap the transfer fee at $15 and stipulate a minimum charge of 25 cents.

Sending Overseas With Paypal Or Skrill: Beware The Hidden Fees
As we’ve explored, it’s certainly possible to send money from PayPal to Skrill. However, when it comes to making a currency exchange along the way, we recommend against sending money from PayPal to Skrill due to the high fees, poor exchange rates, and long waiting times associated with the process.
At Monito, we frequently recommend against using PayPal for most international transfers altogether. This is because, by making one, you’ll be charged a highly variable, nontransparent exchange rate margin fee of anywhere between 2.5% and 4.5% of the entire transfer amount. Similarly, while Skrill is much cheaper than PayPal for transfers abroad, they’re usually not the cheapest service of all on Monito’s comparison engine, although we do recommend them for some transfers abroad.
Instead, if you’re planning on sending money overseas, we recommend you make an ordinary bank transfer or card payment to one of the many international money transfer specialist services available to you, most of which allow you to take advantage of fees and exchange rates that come in at a fraction of the cost of PayPal Run a search on Monito’s real-time comparison engine below to get the job done quickly and easily:

Option 3 Use A Skrill Card
Using Skrill’s Prepaid Mastercard, which is only available to residents of select European Economic Area countries, you’ll be able to send money from PayPal to yourself. However, you won’t be able to send money directly to a beneficiary with this method, as your PayPal account and your Skrill card will need to be in the same name. Once you have linked your PayPal account to your Skrill card , you will then be able to withdraw money from PayPal, into your Skrill wallet via the prepaid card, and then finally on to a recipient, if desired.
Best for: EEA residents already possessing a Skrill card who want to send money to themselves or another person in a foreign currency

Why Set Up Paypal Automatic Transfers
In my business we use this process for money that is deposited into Paypal from sales through our eBay selling accounts, payments from our standalone eCommerce sites, as well as payments that are received through this site.
Put simply if you get paid via Paypal for any product or service you sell, I recommend enabling this feature if you havent already.
The whole process should only take you about 5 minutes of hands on time.
Then once the process is set up you will automatically have money transferred from your Paypal account to your bank account on a daily basis. I find that for my account the funds are available in my bank account the next business day.
This new process saves time versus having to go in manually and create transfers. Its also very helpful for cash flow as the money is never sitting in Paypal for longer the 24 hours.
I highly recommend enabling this on your account, and this post shows you exactly how to do it. Now head on over to Paypal and get started!

Paypal Vs Venmo And Cash App
PayPals international transfer capabilities and wide acceptance at merchants separate it from some of its competitors, including Venmo which is owned by PayPal and Cash App. And when it comes to person-to-person transfers, PayPal offers terms similar to those offered by the other companies, with some exceptions.
Keep in mind that your recipient must have an account with the service to get paid through any of these methods.
You can send at least $4,000 in a single transaction with PayPal. With Cash App, you can send up to $1,000 per month . Unless you complete identity verification, your send limit with Venmo is $299.99 per week.
You can pay for free using a debit or a prepaid debit card on Venmo, and Cash App only charges for personal payments made using a credit card. That credit card fee is 3% for Cash App and Venmo similar to what PayPal charges for all card funding.
All three companies offer instant transfers of your balance to your bank account. Like PayPal, Venmo charges 1% per transaction. Cash App charges 1.5% of the amount transferred.
Moving money from your PayPal account to your bank account can take one to three business days. Transferring money from your bank to your PayPal account can take longer three to five business days. Transfers from Cash App and Venmo to your bank account take one to three days, according to the providers.
Receive Money Via Paypalme Link
Another way to receive money on PayPal is to share a PayPal.Me link. PayPal.Me allows users to share a URL instead of an email address to receive payments. This is helpful for vendors who would prefer not to give their email address out to customers.
If you have a PayPal account, you can create a PayPal.Me link by following these instructions.
Go to the PayPal.Me website.
Select Create Your PayPal.Me Link.
Log into or sign up for a PayPal account. Once youve logged in, youll be prompted to set up your PayPal.Me address.
Upload a photo. This is optional, but it will help your friends know theyre paying the right person.
Choose your PayPal.me link.
Choose this link wisely. You can only create one, and once youve created it, it is yours for as long as you have a PayPal account.
Select Create a PayPal.Me profile.

How To Transfer Money From Paypal To Bank Account
Do you need to transfer money to your friends and family abroad? One of the easiest ways to do so is through PayPal. Though PayPal is more well-known as an online payment service provider, you can also use it as a money transfer platform. Although its free to use locally, using PayPal can be quite expensive when sending money abroad. To give you an idea on Paypals funds transfer service, weve laid out some information below on how you can do it and how to transfer money from PayPal to bank account.
Fees For Receiving Money Through Paypal
When receiving money through PayPal, there are no fees applied to your PayPal balance so long as:
- The sender is in the same country.
- The sender is sending money from their PayPal balance or bank account.
If the sender is using a credit or debit card to send you money , they pay a 2.9 percent fee plus a fee of up to $4.99 depending on the amount of the transaction.
Senders that are transferring money to you from another country pay a fee of $0.99 to $4.99, depending on the total value of the payment. There will also be a 2.9 percent fee and a fixed fee determined by the country of origin. You can find those fees on PayPal’s list of fixed fees for sending in other currencies. As the recipient, however, you pay any conversion fees that are necessary to convert the funds from a foreign currency to U.S. dollars.

Venmo Vs Paypal: Sending Money
The process to send money to someone is fairly similar across the two apps. Both offer the ability to sync your contacts to the app, enabling it to search for any associated PayPal or Venmo accounts held by your friends and family. But even if the app doesnt surface the contact youre looking for, you can send money using their username, email address, or mobile number.
After choosing the recipient and the amount, both PayPal and Venmo will ask you what payment method youd like to use. If you have a positive balance with either service, you can use those funds for your payment. Otherwise, funds will be drawn from the bank account, debit card, or credit card you identify as your desired payment method for this transaction.
Once you hit send on your payment, the amount will hit the users PayPal or Venmo balance within a couple of minutes, often even seconds. With both apps, youll want to make doubly sure youre sending money to the right contact, since the companies wont refund your money if you send it to the wrong person.
Venmo Vs Paypal: Additional Features
As you can see, the two services present fairly similarly on basic features and fee structures. But there are a few areas in which the two apps differ markedly. For instance, with its strong focus on transactions between people who know each other personally, Venmo hosts a social feed of transactions that have taken place among people you know, as well as those of strangers, if you opt to view the public feed.
A scroll through the feed of transactions by your Venmo friends will show you who paid who, and with whatever note they shared. The only thing missing is the amount. The feed also supports emojis, which are almost more common than text in the Venmo social feed. When you make your own transactions in the app, sharing them publicly is the default, but you can change this to viewable only by your Venmo friends or only by the recipient, either globally or on a transaction-by-transaction basis.
Where PayPal stands out against Venmo is in its ability to be used by merchant sellers who are accepting payments, as well as shoppers and buyers at online and physical retailers. Originally established as the payments provider for eBay, PayPal excels in enabling transactions between people who dont know each other, including offering protections for both sellers and buyers that Venmo doesnt provide.

Setting Up Automatic Transfers In Paypal
Note: This feature is only available on Paypal Business Accounts or Premier account types. If you currently have a personal account you should be able to upgrade your account type by reaching out to Paypals support. In this post well walk through an example of how to reach out to their support, so you can use that process.
Login to Paypal and click the settings wheel in the upper right hand corner and click account settings:
Then navigate to money, banks, and cards
Scroll part way down when you arrive on this page, and see if you have the option to setup recurring transfers to bank account or set automatic transfers.
Most likely you will not see this option.
Ive gone through this process on all 3 of the Paypal accounts I use, and none of them have had this option. Since we dont have the option to setup the recurring transfer, we need to reach out to Paypals support. You can do this by clicking the chat icon as shown in this screenshot:
Then click new message and send this message: Hello I would like to enable auto sweep on my account. Can you please help with that?
You will begin chatting with Paypals virtual agent. Your goal is to get to a live chat agent, so in my case I had to select none of these as shown below by red arrow 3:
Then Paypal will try to show you relevant help articles.
Here you will need to type need more help. You will then be given the option to be transferred to a live agent.

How To Transfer The Cashback To Bank Account
So, whats the solution to this?
Well, Ive come across a fairly simple solution which allows you to transfer the PayPal cashback to your PayTM wallet and from there, you can easily transfer the money directly to your bank account.
The basic idea is to purchase a PayTM gift card of the exact same amount as the PayPal cashback voucher, and while making the purchase of the gift card, we can use the cashback voucher to pay. And then, the gift card can be used to add money to our PayTM wallet, which we can directly transfer to any bank account we want.
