How Fast Are Zelle Payments Sent Using Chime

The biggest drawback to using Zelle with Chime is due to the fact Chime isnt natively supported currently and because of that, you have to use your debit card to send payments.

This means that your payments arent sent as quickly as normal payments through Zelle are sent.

Instead of being nearly instant, the payments can take a few business days to process.

Despite that, this is still your best option for using Zelle with your Chime account.

Youll then be able to spend up to the amount youve added to your card, while building a credit history. If youve previously been denied credit facilities, this may help you get a better credit score for future needs.

As an alternative, you may be able to access a no-fee overdraft with Chime if youre eligible to enrol in SpotMe¹¹. To do this, youll need to:

    • Be 18 or over
    • Have had at least $500 deposited in your Chime Spending Account in the past month
    • Have an Apple or Android phone with a data plan

As with the spending account, Chimes savings account does not have any monthly fees or require a minimum balance. Their savings account is currently paying 1 percent interest on balances.

The Chime saving account has two optional savings programs to make saving money easier.

Their Save When You Spend feature lets you save a small amount of money whenever you make purchases with your debit card. Whenever you use the Chime debit card, the bank will round up the transaction to the nearest dollar and transfer the difference to your savings account.

Let’s say you spend $25.55 at the grocery store. Chime will debit your spending account for $26, pay the store $25.55 and move $0.45 to your savings account. This may not seem like much, but these small amounts will add up every time you make a debit purchase. The more purchases you make, the more money you will save. But the bank does have a maximum annual limit of $500 of these savings transfers. However, youll have to make nearly 1,000 purchases before you bump into the maximum limit.

The other option is a Save When I Get Paid feature. This feature lets you set up a recurring transfer up to 10 percent from each direct deposit of your paycheck.

What We Can Expect From Chime Bank In The Future

Chime is among the very first successful challenger banks out there. With its innovative strategy and beneficial features to individuals not in ideal financial standing, Chime continues to grow in popularity and create new ways to make banking easier and more accessible.

As far as the future goes, we can expect Chime to develop more benefits and features for their most recently debuted credit card line. FICO, the credit scoring company, recently stated that they plan to look more intensively into missed credit payments and accumulated debt to judge credit scores with the release of the FICO Score 10 model.

With this increased scrutiny over credit scores, Chime and other challenger banks may start to up the ante on their credit services such as providing more features and benefits to boost existing credit scores.
